House of Six

Around campus, we're infamously known by everyone as the house with 5 guys and a girl.

I basically live with two Brazilians (Victor & Matheus) two Japanese (Taku & Yasu) and a Kiwi (Ed). They're the greatest guys, the best. But I may post more about them later in retribution for not disclosing what they wrote about me on their fotolog - the worst thing is seeing snippets of your name in between large texts of portugese and not knowing what it means.

How did it happen? I'm not quite sure either, but it wasn't a hard choice between run-down student dorms or a decent apartment with 2 bathrooms and your own kitchen. My first day in China I was organising for all the guys to meet each other over dinner, next thing we were apartment hunting together, and within the week Victor was lying passed out (minus russian girl) on the couch as I wandered out for brekkie after crazy housewarming.

I frequently get asked, just how do you manage to live with five guys? Victor and Matheus coming from what they define the 'upper-middle class' always had a maid back home in Rio and Recife, so this was actually more scary for them than me. Hence the boys jokingly calls me 'mom' becuase I started virtuously doing the housework, being a bit mad on cleaning. But, rather predictably, after a few weeks I got busy and gave up. Now I have two "ayii" maids who do all that.

In the student bar neighbourhood with apartment complex within walking distance behind. Location, location, location.
